An Unprecedented Assembly of Intellect and Innovation

Welcome to our pivotal gathering in the world of cybersecurity.

At the heart of ConnectCon lies a singular ambition: to unite the distinct realms of cybersecurity expertise. Industry veterans, known for their hands-on approach and practical solutions, will share the stage with academia's finest - the thinkers, the researchers, the visionaries. It's a unique confluence where hard facts meet new ideas, where real-world applications meet theoretical research.

Morning Session 9:30 am check in

Challenges:

The morning is focused on identifying the “grand challenges” and needs in human-centered cybersecurity, with the keynotes serving as a thought-provoking catalyst for the roundtable discussion.

Conspiring Keynotes

Topics up for debate with our Keynote Speakers, Arun Vishwanath and Perry Carpenter:

  • Limits/Constraints/Guardrails/Governance

  • Semantics/Nomenclature

  • Monetization/Funding

  • AI in the Mix - What Now?

  • Which Sacred Cows should be Killed?

Followed by Full Room Q&A.

Facilitated Breakout Roundtables

Participants will be led through a rapid ideation, brainstorming, and decision making through Holistic Operational Planning (HOP) activities in roundtable groups.

The Mission of the Morning: Led by expert facilitator, Lisa Flynn, MS, PhD Candidate, we'll identify the Problems and specific Use Cases in Human-Centered Cybersecurity.

Afternoon Session

Solutions:

The afternoon is focused on possible solutions and ways to address the challenges in human-centered cybersecurity.

We'll discuss both at a local or organizational level and more broadly in this international think tank.

Human-Centric International Cybersecurity Panel

Moderated by Jessica Barker, M.B.E, Ph.D. (Cygenta) this all star panel including Dr. Julie Haney (NIST), Gabriel Bassett (Liberty Mutual Insurance), Dr. Rosanna Guadagno (Univ. of Oulu), Dr. Robert Thomson (Army Cyber Institute) and Dr. Calvin Nobles (Univ. of Maryland Global Campus) will discuss how to move the needle towards integrating human-centered cybersecurity in practice by equipping security professionals and organizations with the tools and information they need most.

Topics include:

  • Cybersecurity workforce education & training

  • Workforce discipline diversity

  • Guidance and standards about human-centered cybersecurity

  • Tools that incorporate, track, or measure human-centric factors

  • Role of research, bridging the research-practice gap

Facilitated Breakout Roundtables

Roundtable, no people.jpg

Participants will reconvene in new roundtable groups, this time to focus on possible interventions or solutions for the challenges identified in a Strategic Collaborative Implementation Planning (SCIP) Exercise. The HOP and SCIP methodologies were introduced by L Flynn earlier this year and are designed to encourage Collective Impact as well as Systems One and Two Thinking.

The Mission for the Afternoon: Create the framework for solutions to carry forward. (Don't stop here!) We hope to see Research Groups, Products, and Collectives emerge from this interactive event.
