Perry Carpenter
Perry Carpenter is the Chief Human Risk Management Strategist at KnowBe4 and the author of, "Transformational Security Awareness: What Neuroscientists, Storytellers, and Marketers Can Teach Us About Driving Secure Behaviors" and coauthor of "The Security Culture Playbook: An Executive Guide To Reducing Risk and Developing Your Human Defense Layer". He is also the creator and host of the "8th Layer Insights" and "Digital Folklore" podcasts.
Formerly, Carpenter led security awareness, security culture management, and anti-phishing behavior management research at Gartner Research, in addition to covering areas of IAM strategy, CISO Program Management mentoring, and Technology Service Provider success strategies. With a long career as a security professional and researcher, Carpenter has broad experience in North America and Europe, providing security consulting and advisory services for many of the best-known global brands.
Carpenter holds a Master of Science in Information Assurance (MSIA) from Norwich University in Vermont and is a Security Awareness and Culture Professional (SACP) and a Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO).
Perry's upcoming book, "FAIK: A Practical Guide to Living in a World of Deepfakes, Disinformation, and AI-Generated Deceptions," is set to be published in October 2024.
Arun Vishwanath, PhD, MBA
Renowned Expert in Cybersecurity, Deception, and Human Behavior Arun Vishwanath is a distinguished scholar and practitioner at the forefront of addressing cybersecurity’s “people problem.”
With a dynamic blend of expertise in cognitive-behavioral science and cybersecurity, he delves into how human vulnerabilities can be the linchpin in safeguarding or compromising cyber resilience.
An internationally recognized figure, Dr. Vishwanath has made over 250 media appearances globally, discussing how cybercriminals, terrorist groups, and radical activists exploit digital spaces to perpetrate crimes, disseminate false information, and influence or recruit individuals. His commentary has featured in leading outlets such as Wired Magazine, Politico, CNN, and the Washington Post, bringing vital security issues to the forefront of public discourse.
He is also the author of the highly acclaimed book “The Weakest Link,” published by MIT Press, which has been recognized as a seminal work in understanding the human factors in cybersecurity and has become a bestseller in the field.
Through his research and applied work, Dr. Vishwanath aims to not only advance theoretical frameworks but also to pioneer actionable strategies that enhance cybersecurity practices across various sectors.

Lisa Flynn, MS MIS, is a Human Systems Engineer and PhD Candidate known for her innovative and strategic use of Intelligence Augmentation. With a background in launching tech startups and serving in C-suite roles, Lisa combines expertise in artificial intelligence, information systems, psychology, marketing, and entrepreneurship to advance cognitive security. Flynn heads up AI R&D at Catalysts & Canaries, a cybersecurity workforce development initiative. In addition to her professional work, Lisa contributes to counter-terrorism coalitions. She is at the forefront of developing the future security workforce through technology and human system dynamics.

Dr. Jessica Barker, MBE, is an award-winning leader in the human side of cyber security and has delivered face-to-face awareness sessions to over 50,000 people. Jessica is the go-to expert for media such as BBC, Sky News and Wired and she has delivered over 80 keynotes including NATO, the World Government Summit and RSA. She serves on numerous boards, including the UK Government Cyber Security Advisory Board. She is the author of the best-selling book ‘Confident Cyber Security’ and in June 2023, Jessica was awarded an MBE for services to cyber security by King Charles in his first Birthday Honours.

Rosanna Guadagno, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Persuasive Information Systems at the University of Oulu, Finland. She previously taught at Stanford University and Directed the Information Warfare Working Group. She studies Social Influence and Persuasion in Digital Environments and has over 130 publications. She serves as the Specialty Chief Editor in Media Psychology for Frontiers in Psychology and her forthcoming book is entitled Psychological Processes in Social Media: Why We Click.
Julie Haney, PhD

Julie Haney leads the Human-Centered Cybersecurity program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She conducts research about the human element of cybersecurity, including the usability and adoption of cybersecurity solutions, work practices of cybersecurity professionals, and people’s perceptions of privacy and cybersecurity. She has been an invited speaker at numerous cybersecurity forums spanning industry, government, and academia. Previously, Julie spent over 20 years working in the U.S. Department of Defense as a cybersecurity professional and technical director. She has a PhD in Human-Centered Computing and an M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science.
Calvin Nobles, PhD

Dr. Nobles is a retired Commander who served 26 years in the U.S. Navy. He previously served as Department Chair and Associate Professor in Information Technology and Management at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He also served as Vice President in the banking industry, specializing in cybersecurity, information security, and technology. With a career spanning several decades, Dr. Nobles is a seasoned executive known for implementing innovative changes.
Dr. Robert Thomson

Dr. Robert Thomson is an Associate Professor in the Engineering Psychology Program at the United States Military Academy, is a Cognitive Science Researcher at the Army Cyber Institute, and currently serves as the Dean's Fellow for Research. Dr. Thomson has over 13 years of post-graduate research experience and over 75 invited and refereed academic publications in the domains of computational modeling, intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. He has been selected and supported more than $25M in reimbursable research from IARPA, DARPA, NIH, the Office of Naval Research, and several Army organizations.
